Astro Blaster Tone Enhancer/Boost
Simple pre-amp circuits have long been a tone secret of the pros. The echoplex pre-amp, the LPB-1, the Tillman pre-amp, and many more. From pushing the front end of a tube amp into overdrive, to mild boosting, to all around tonal enhancement, these little devices are simply amazing.
Astroblaster is based around the Stratoblaster pre-amp, originally designed to beef up the relatively thin sound of Stratocaster single coil pickups. But not only will Astroblaster beef up the sound of thin sounding single coils, It will add detail and clarity to the top end of humbuckers, and all around detail to beefy single coils such as the P-90. It’s kinda like pulling a blanket off your amp, your tone becomes more lively and responsive.
With the knob all the way down (full counter clockwise) You are at unity gain and there is tonal enhancement when the pedal is engaged. As you turn it up it starts pushing whatever follows it harder. I like to place one of these in front of a tube amp to slam the input gain stages. If you are using it in a string of pedals, place it after all delay, synth, and modulating devices. Personally, I like to run one of these last in the chain.
Hand wired construction with free standing jacks. This pedal should stand the test of time but if something does go wrong, it's designed to be worked on easily. No need to throw it in the trash or the non working pedal pile.
